Built over a period of eight years this 76-strong class of 4-4-0 locomotive were designed by Gresley and could be found almost anywhere north of Doncaster along the east Cost Main Line and into Scotland with Aberdeen being their most northerly operating area. Named after Hunts and Shires, the class was extinct on BR metals by 1961 with one example preserved at Boness.
